Chilli Powder in the UK and the Indian sub-continent is made from pure powdered hot chillies. In many other countries it is often a mix of dried ground chilli peppers, cumin, garlic and oregano. Used widely in curries, marinades and to add heat or a 'kick' to many cheese and meat based dishes.
